Community for Women in Energy

Last year, Katie Mehnert founded Pink Petro, an online community for women in energy. The former BP exec attracted sponsorships from Shell Oil, Halliburton, and KPMG and paid memberships (fees range from $50 to $500 per year) from energy executives in 21 countries around the world.

On Tuesday, she’s marking Pink Petro’s first year with The HerWorld Energy Forum, hosted at Halliburton headquarters in Houston and live-streamed around the globe. Speakers include: Amanda Kite, president of Women Sharing Excellence at Halliburton; Jody Markopoulos, chief operating officer at GE Oil & Gas; and Eileen Campbell, former vice president of global public policy for Marathon Oil.

The goal? Foster connections between women in energy around the world.

“We are an inclusive, authentic, progressive and engaged global community creating a new culture for workforce and supply chain transformation in the energy industry,” Mehnert said in a statement.

“Our mission is, and will continue to be, closing the significant gender gap in the energy industry.”
