On January 1, 2020 the International Maritime Organization (IMO) mandate for 0.5% global sulphur cap for marine fuels will come into effect. This is a significant change impacting the global bunker fuel markets where 3.5% sulphur fuel is predominantly used currently. This mandate is part of the ongoing IMO efforts to reduce air pollution and improve health and environmental benefits especially for communities residing near ports.

The new fuel sulphur regulation will have a disruptive effect across the supply chain presenting threats and opportunities for both the supply side and the demand side of the market. According to data from Bloomberg Intelligence, 67% of shippers are not prepared for this new regulation.* Are you ready for a changing future?
